Micro-macroscopic models have been developed andcoupled to study the effects of the fluctuated cooling conditions,casting speeds and the different phases' distributions in the solidifiedshell of continuously cast steel slabs on the solid shell resistancephenomenon (SRR). The macroscopic models involved the governingequations of heat flow and composite solid shell resistance (CSSR).
