The endowing capacity of mobile oxygen due to rapid redox switching between Ce+4/Ce+3 is a key point for ceria containing surfaces. Herein we have presented a review which is broadly divided into two parts. First part focuses on surface property as how electronic structure, vacancy and surface energy would be modified after interaction of ceria with dopant (noble metal, metal of variable oxidation state, higher valent metal and lower valent metal). The second part focuses on catalysis as how the doped ceria surface influences the carbon monoxide transformations (CO oxidation, CO and H2O reaction, CO and NO reaction, CO and H-2 reaction). This through study will be helpful to predict the ceria surface for a designed reaction.

Application Extended Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher Equation for soybean oil

查看更多>>摘要:Mathematical models that describe the variation of soybean oil viscosity with temperature according to the recent WLF and VTF (or VFT) equations and traditionally by the Arrhenius equation. The Arrhenius equation shows that the viscosity of the oil is proportional to the absolute temperature and is determined by the activation energy parameter. In Arrhenius' equation the absolute temperature is replaced by T + b where both adjustable T and b are in degrees C. The mathematical models described by the equations WLF and VTF, are equal to each other. All three equations are in the same model when used for experimental data of temperature-viscosity dependence, they give exactly the same very high regression coefficient.

The results showed that coupling the catalyst with ultrasound irradiations could improve the catalytic system in this transformation by achieving the products in a very short time, the results showed clearly that this catalyst could be considered as excellent recyclable support in Knoevenagel condensation.

查看更多>>摘要:The present study demonstrates the application of freshly prepared neem leaf extract as a reducing agent for synthesizing magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO-NPs). In silico interaction of Aspergillus oryzae beta-galactosidase with MgO-NPs was observed by using molecular docking program Dock v.6.5 while the visual analyses and illustration of protein-ligand complex were investigated by utilizing chimera v.1.6.2 and PyMOL v.1.3 softwares. The prepared nanomatrix provided 83% immobilization yield, and broadened the biocatalytic activity of immobilized beta-galactosidase at higher pH and temperature ranges. Immobilized beta-galactosidase exhibited greater activity even at 5.0% galactose concentration as compared to the soluble enzyme under similar experimental conditions. Hence, the use of green nanotechnology makes the process inexpensive, and therefore, immobilization of these enzymes on such nanoparticles can help to recover the enzyme, which ultimately decreases the cost of process.

Distribution of Selected Dissolved and Particulate Heavy Metals in Lake Kenyir, Malaysia

查看更多>>摘要:This study was conducted to determine the concentration and possible sources of dissolved and particulate heavy metals in Lake Kenyir, Terengganu, Malaysia. The heavy metals studied included Cd. Fe, Pb, Zn and Cu. The findings indicated that the mean concentrations found in the dissolved form for surface waters were in decreasing order of Fe>Zn>Pb - Cu>Cd. A similar trend was also recorded for the particulate form i.e., Fe>Zn>Pb-Cu>Cd. In terms of vertical distribution, most of the heavy metals showed a trend of increasing concentrations from the surface to the bottom waters. The main sources of heavy metals were from anthropogenic activities such as discharge of untreated sewage, surface runoff and boat activity. However, the levels of dissolved heavy metals were still lower compared to other study areas in Malaysia. The dissolved heavy metal concentrations were equivalent with Class II based on the National Water Quality Standard for Malaysia.

Densities of aqueous solutions of D(+) mannose (monosaccharide) and D(+) maltose monohydrate (disaccharide) in (0.05, 0.15, 0.3) mol.kg(-1) of sodium cyclamate (Na-Cyclamate) at T= 298.15 K have been measured. From experimental values of densities, V phi(0)(partial molar volumes) Delta(t)(rs) V phi(0)(partial molar volumes of transfer)ASV (apparent specific volumes) interaction parameters (V-AB) and (V-ABB) have been determined. The calculated values of various parameters have been used to interpret the results in terms of (D (+) mannose-water), (D(+) mannose-water-Na-cyclamate), (D(+) maltose monohydrate-water) and (D(+) maltose monohydrate -water-Nacyclamate) interactions in sugar-water-Na-cyclamate and quality of taste sense of solutions.

查看更多>>摘要:In present investigate the possible removal of Ni2+ ions from aqueous solution by using low-cost Hygrophila auriculata activated nano carbon (HA-ANC) as an adsorbent. The activated nano carbon had been prepared from Hygrophila auriculata stem waste as well; the raw material was carbonized with con. H2SO4 and activated by thermal action. Batch experiments were performed in order to calculate the percentage removal of Ni2+ ions for 90.737% at 60 degrees C. The properties of treated carbon and untreated carbon are compared using instrumental techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM and EDX, which confirms Ni2+ ions adsorption onto HA-ANC. FT-IR showed that the surface of HA-ANC had more oxygen containing functional groups which enhanced the adsorption of Ni2+. XRD showed the nature of adsorbent, SEM images implies morphological deviance of before and after adsorption of Ni2+ onto HA-ANC and EDX showed that the C content of HA-ANC were higher than that of Ni2+/HA-ANC.

Reactions are found to be in unit order with oxidant while a fractional order (less than unity) was found w. r. t. reductants. The redox reactions are influenced with acid, the acid dependence is governed by this equation: k(obs) = a + b[H+]. When isomeric form of aldehyde, that is Me-CDO is oxidised with the same oxidant it was observed a considerable K. I .E. (Deuterium effect; k(H)/k(D) = 05.69 at 298 K). The reaction of Acetaldehyde was done in various non aqueous medium, soluble or miscible in DMSO. The effect of solvent is studied fitting our data in the solvent model of Taft's and Swain's applied for this purpose. Rate constants are correlating very well with already reported Taft's values of sigma*; further the reaction constants are negative in nature. Suitable mechanism involving are proposed with transfer of hydride ion.

查看更多>>摘要:While chlorate has the ability to induce flowering in longan, it also has adverse impacts on the crop. Revealing the toxicity of chlorate in the environment is more than just about the environment and about human health, as well. Because of the large introduction of this chemical into the environment from the paper processing industry, there is indeed a lot of concern about its toxicity. Chlorate toxicology in the longan plant has been thoroughly investigated in solutions using viscosities and apparent molar volumes. The hydration of molecules and volume changes are involved in various chemical and biological processes in plant tissues, and their complete understanding demands a good idea for volumetric and viscometric study. It offers good data acquisition techniques for solute, solvent and solvent-solvent interactions. Multi-component systems containing KClO3+ water + ionic solid (ionic solids = KCl, KNO3, NH4NO3 and KH2PO4, are currently being worked out to study the dependence of transport properties of potassium chlorate in aqueous electrolyte solutions, with concentrations and temperature of solutions. The assessed kd values are used to predict whether the solvolysis of KClO3 in the presence of other electrolytes is a quick or slow process.
