According to news reporting originating from Amst erdam, Netherlands, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “The sentences ‘M ore than half of the students passed the exam’ and ‘Fewer than half of the stude nts failed the exam’ describe the same set of situations, and yet the former res ults in shorter reaction times in verification tasks. The two-step model explain s this result by postulating that negative quantifiers contain hidden negation, which involves an extra processing stage.” Funders for this research include European Research Council (ERC), German Resear ch Foundation (DFG).

According to news reporting originating in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “In the era of invasive social media and advanced artificial intelligence, sentiment analysis has become a vital tool for e-comme rce and businesses to grasp user needs and monitor brand perception. This is par ticularly relevant in the film industry, where understanding the determinants of a movie’s pre-release performance is crucial for producers and investors.” The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from the University of Tul sa, “Traditional methods often rely on complex algorithms that lack transparency in elucidating the relationship between key risk factors and movie outcomes. Th is study addresses this gap by employing an explainable analytics framework to i nvestigate the impact of various social media post characteristics on movie perf ormance before its release. Initially, an exploratory data analysis was undertak en to identify significant risk factors associated with movie failures. Subseque ntly, the study segmented the analysis into three risk categorieslow, moderate, and high risk-and applied conventional machine learning models to forecast the likelihood of failure within each category. The culmination of this research inv olved the application of a SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) model, which prov ided insightful interpretations of how different risk factors contribute to the potential success or failure of movies.”

According to news reporting originating from Cali, Colombia, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “Traumatic brain injury (T BI) has become a major source of disability worldwide, increasing the interest i n algorithms that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize the interpretatio n of imaging studies, prognosis estimation, and critical care issues. In this st udy we present a bibliometric analysis and Mini Review on the main uses that hav e been developed for TBI in AI.” Our news editors obtained a quote from the research from the University of Valle , “The results informing this review come from a Scopus database search as of Ap ril 15, 2023. The bibliometric analysis was carried out via the mapping bibliogr aphic metrics method. Knowledge mapping was made in the VOSviewer software (V1.6 .18), analyzing the ‘link strength’ of networks based on co-occurrence of keywor ds, countries co-authorship and co-cited authors. In the mini-review section, we highlight the main findings and contributions of the studies. A total of 495 sc ientific publications were identified from 2000 to 2023, with 9262 citations pub lished since 2013. Among the 160 journals identified, The Journal of Neurotrauma , Frontiers in Neurology, and Plos One where those with the greatest number of p ublications. The most frequently co-occurring keywords were: ‘machine learning’, ‘deep learning’, ‘magnetic resonance imaging’, and ‘intracranial pressure’. The United States accounted for more collaborations than any other country, followe d by United Kingdom and China. Four co-citation author clusters were found, and the top 20 papers were divided into reviews and original articles.”

According to news reporting originating in Nakorn Panom, Thailand, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “Dietary assessment is a fundamental component of nutrition research and plays a pivotal role in managi ng chronic diseases. Traditional dietary assessment methods, particularly in the context of Thai cuisine, often require extensive training and may lead to estim ation errors.” The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Mahidol University, “ To address these challenges, Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University (INMU) i Food, an innovative artificial intelligencebased Thai food dietary assessment s ystem, allows for estimating the nutritive values of dishes from food images. IN MU iFood leverages state-of-the-art technology and integrates a validated automa ted Thai food analysis system. Users can use 3 distinct input methods: food imag e recognition, manual input, and a convenient barcode scanner. This versatility simplifies the tracking of dietary intake while maximizing data quality at the i ndividual level. The core improvement in INMU iFood can be attributed to 2 key f actors, namely, the replacement of Yolov4-tiny with Yolov7 and the expansion of noncarbohydrate source foods in the training image data set. This combination si gnificantly enhances the system’s ability to identify food items, especially in scenarios with closely packed food images, thus improving accuracy. Validation r esults showcase the superior performance of the INMU iFood integrated V7-based s ystem over its predecessor, V4-based, with notable improvements in protein and f at estimation. Furthermore, INMU iFood addresses limitations by offering users t he option to import additional food products via a barcode scanner, thus providi ng access to a vast database of nutritional information through Open Food Facts. This integration ensures users can track their dietary intake effectively, with expanded access to over 3000 food items added to or updated in the Open Food Fa cts database covering a wide variety of dietary choices.”
查看更多>>摘要:By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News – Investigators discuss new findings in Robotics - Robotics and Automation. According to news reporting out of Waterloo, Canada, by NewsRx editors, research stated, “Visibility is a crucial aspect of planning and control of autonomous vehicles (AV), particularly when navigating e nvironments with occlusions. However, when an AV follows a trajectory with multi ple occlusions, existing methods evaluate each occlusion individually, calculate a visibility cost for each, and rely on the planner to minimize the overall cos t.” Financial support for this research came from CGIAR. Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the University of W aterloo, “This can result in conflicting priorities for the planner, as individu al occlusion costs may appear to be in opposition. We solve this problem by crea ting an alternate perspective cost map that allows for an aggregate view of the occlusions in the environment. The value of each cell on the cost map is a measu re of the amount of visual information that the vehicle can gain about the envir onment by visiting that location. Our proposed method identifies observation loc ations and occlusion targets drawn from both map data and sensor data.” According to the news editors, the research concluded: “We show how to estimate an alternate perspective for each observation location and then combine all esti mates into a single alternate perspective cost map for motion planning.”

According to news reporting from Lubeck, Germany, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “Mediastinal paragangliomas are rare. Their dange rousness may unfold during surgery, especially if hormonal activity was previous ly unknown.” Financial support for this research came from Technische Universitat Dresden. The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from University Hospi tal Schleswig- Holstein, “We report our experience with this case in context to t he incidence and localization of atypically located mediastinal paragangliomas i n the literature. A 69-year-old female patient who was scheduled for thoracoscop ic resection due to a posterior mediastinal tumor that had been progressing in s ize for several years and increasing symptoms. The induction of anesthesia, the ventilation of the lungs and the gas exchange after lung separation was uneventf ul. After initially stable circulatory conditions, there was a sudden increase i n blood pressure up to 300/130 mmHg and tachycardia up to 130/min. This hyperten sive phase was difficult to influence and required a rapid and consistent use of antihypertensive medication to bring down the blood pressure to reasonable valu es. The patient stabilized after tumor resection. The postoperative course was u nremarkable. During the intraoperative blood pressure crisis, blood was drawn fo r analysis. These samples showed elevated concentrations of normetanephrine and metanephrine. The tumor subsequently presented as a catecholamine-secreting para ganglioma. In order to avoid life-threatening blood pressure crises, hormone act ivity should be ruled out preoperatively in the case of mediastinal tumor, in wh ich a paraganglioma could be considered in the differential diagnosis, especiall y if there are indications of hypertension in the medical history.”
