Patent Issued for System and methods for quantifying uncertainty of segmentation masks produced by machine learning models (USPTO11972593)

    110-113页
查看更多>>摘要:News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “Machine learning models are routinely employed in the fiel d of medical image processing and medical image analysis. In one example, machin e learning models may be used to segment a medical image into different anatomic al regions, or other regions of interest, by predicting/inferring one or more se gmentation masks for the regions of interest, wherein a segmentation mask identi fies pixels/voxels of an input image belonging to a particular region of interes t. One recognized limitation of the segmentation masks produced via machine lear ning models is the inability to distinguish between more and less confident segm entation masks, or between more and less confident regions within a segmentation mask. In conventional approaches, uncertainty of a machine learning model’s pre dictions is quantified during a training phase (e.g., accuracy, precision, recal l, cross-entropy etc.), and thus a same uncertainty may be associated with segme ntation masks produced by a particular machine learning model, regardless of the quality or identity of the input image. Therefore, in conventional approaches, it may be difficult for a user to determine if the information presented by a se gmentation mask, or derived therefrom, should be accepted or rejected. In partic ular, in anatomical measurement workflows, or other workflows where a position o f an anatomical landmark or other feature may be automatically determined based on output from a machine learning model (e.g., a segmentation mask), it may be d ifficult to accurately assess the certainty/confidence of the automatically dete rmined landmark position. In such cases, a radiologist or other user may need to manually evaluate each automatically determined position before proceeding, the reby reducing the efficiency of medical imaging workflows. Therefore, exploring approaches for automatically determining anatomical landmark position certainty/ confidence is generally desired.”

查看更多>>摘要:The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “ “The present disclosure relates to a control method for a robot system and a rob ot system. “In the field of human-friendly robots that perform a task in collaboration with a human, a configuration where a safety monitoring unit monitors an operation o f a robot and where an emergency stop of the robot is made when an abnormality o r trouble in the robot is detected, is known. For example, JP-A- 2011-152612 desc ribes a robot control device that monitors a speed reduction state of a robot af ter the robot receives a stop command. “However, the robot control device of JP-A-2011-152612 performs the monitoring, using a comparative speed calculated based on a maximum speed of the robot, and therefore may not be able to sufficiently detect a speed reduction abnormality w hen the robot reduces the speed from a speed that is not the maximum speed.”

Patent Issued for Machine learning based media content annotation (USPTO 1197399 3)

    115-118页
查看更多>>摘要:The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “Media capture devices can capture various types of media content, including images, video, and/or audio. For example, a camera can capture image data or video data of a scene. The media data from a media cap ture device can be captured and output for processing and/or consumption. For in stance, a video of a scene can be captured and processed for display on one or m ore viewing devices. In some cases, media content can be annotated using additio nal content. Examples of annotated media content include media clips summarizing an item of media content (e.g., a movie, a show, a song), audio descriptions of media content, among others.

'Vehicle Sharing Service Optimization' in Patent Application Approval Process (U SPTO 20240144195)

    118-120页
查看更多>>摘要:The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “The cost of vehicle ownership is becoming incre asingly expensive due to, for instance, rising maintenance costs, fuel costs, in surance, and depreciation, among other factors. Additionally, cities are becomin g increasingly dense, making car storage and parking difficult and costly. Furth er, each additional vehicle on the road presents an environmental toll, requirin g additional raw materials and leading to increased emission output (e.g., durin g use and during production). Car sharing enables users to reduce or eliminate m any of these vehicle-related transportation costs, for instance, by spreading th e costs across a plurality of users. Car sharing can also result in fewer cars o n the road, less traffic congestion, and more available parking spots in urban a reas. However, a successful car sharing service requires maintaining a delicate balance of supply and demand for cars. Existing car sharing solutions tend to si gnificantly overestimate demand and thus over-allocate vehicles in an area, lead ing to unnecessary cost and waste, and increasing associated service and environ mental costs.

Patent Application Titled 'Detecting Items In A Shopping Cart Based On Location Of Shopping Cart' Published Online (USPTO 20240144688)

    122-125页
查看更多>>摘要:Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “Traditional brick-and-mortar stores with human attendants and cashiers generally provide shopping carts and/or baskets to users for use in ho lding items to be purchased. When ready to checkout, the users present their ite ms to a human cashier who manually scans each and every item. “Automated checkout systems allow a customer at a brick-and-mortar store to sele ct and purchase items all without aid from a human attendant. Automated checkout systems aim to streamline such processes by capturing images of items inside th e shopping cart and identifying items placed in the shopping cart from the captu red images. However, stores are filled with items, many of which look visually s imilar to other items. As a result, automated checkout systems often inaccuratel y identify items within the shopping cart or are entirely incapable of identifyi ng items within the shopping cart.”
