According to news reporting out of Barcelona, Spain, by NewsRx ed itors, research stated, "Ultraviolet- C (UV-C) light is effective for reducing e nvironmental bioburden in hospitals, and the use of robots to deliver it may be advantageous. To evaluate the feasibility and clinical efficacy of an autonomous programmable UV-C robot in surgical and intensive care unit (ICU) rooms of a te rtiary hospital." Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the University of B arcelona, "During ten consecutive months, the device was used in six theatres wh ere cardiac, colorectal and orthopaedic surgeries were performed, and in the roo ms previously occupied by patients subjected to contact precautions of a14-bed ICU. Surgical site infection (SSI) rates of procedures performed in the UV-clean ed theatres were compared with those of the previous year. Incidence in clinical samples of ICU-acquired multiple-drug resistant (MDR) microorganisms was compar ed with that of the same period of the previous year. An UV-C exposure study don e by semi-quantitative dosimeters and a survey of the bioburden on surfaces were carried out. SSI rates in the pre- and post-intervention periods were 8.67% (80/922) and 7.5% (61/813), respectively (p=0.37). Incidence of ta rget microorganisms in clinical samples remained unchanged (38.4 vs. 39.4 per 10 ,000 patient-days, p=0.94). All the dosimeters exposed to 1 meter received 500 m J/cm. The bacterial load on surfaces decreased after the intervention, particula rly in ICU rooms (from 4.57±7.4 CFU to 0.27±0.8 CFU, p<0.00 01). Deployment of an UV-C robot in surgical and ICU rooms is feasible, ensures adequate delivery of germicidal UV-C light and reduces the environmental bacteri al burden."

According to news reporting out of Maribor, Slovenia, by NewsRx editors, research stated, "Industrial robots are slowly finding their way into m anufacturing companies." Funders for this research include Slovenian Research Agency. Our news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from University of Ma ribor: "This paper examines the impact of robots on productivity, exports, quali ty, sustainability and labor in European manufacturing companies. There is littl e research on the use of industrial robots and their impact in developed countri es. Most research relates to Chinese companies, and often, the data are outdated . The data in this paper come from the European Manufacturing Survey project, wh ich was conducted in 2022 and includes 476 manufacturing companies. The results of the impact of industrial robots on quality, labor productivity, exports and g reen technologies are determined using a T-test between companies that use indus trial robots and those that do not. However, the impact of higher investment in environmental technologies by industrial robot users was examined by a two-stage OLS regression analysis with control variables representing the contextual char acteristics of the companies."

According to news originating from Hefei, People's Republic of China, by NewsRx editors, the research stated, "The CFETR multipurpose overload robot ( CMOR) is a critical component of the fusion reactor remote handling system." Our news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Department of In formation Engineering: "To accurately calculate and visualize the structural def ormation and stress characteristics of the CMOR motion process, this paper first establishes a CMOR kinematic model to analyze the unfolding and working process in the vacuum chamber. Then, the dynamic model of CMOR is established using the Lagrangian method, and the rigid-flexible coupling modeling of CMOR links and j oints is achieved using the finite element method and the linear spring damping equivalent model. The co-simulation results of the CMOR rigid-flexible coupled m odel show that when the end load is 2000 kg, the extreme value of the end-effect or position error is more than 0.12 m, and the maximum stress value is 1.85 x 10 8 Pa. To utilize the stress-strain data of CMOR, this paper designs a CMOR morph ology prediction control system based on Unity software. Implanting CMOR finite element analysis data into the Unity environment, researchers can monitor the st ress strain generated by different motion trajectories of the CMOR robotic arm i n the control system."
