However, the design and manufacturing of high-performance MNRs with complex multi-material three-dimensional structures at the micro-and nanoscale pose significant challenges that cannot be addressed by conventional s erial design strategies and single-process manufacturing methods. The material-interface-structure-function/performance coupled design methods and the additive/ formative/subtractive composite manufacturing (AFS-CM) methods off er an opportunity to design and manufacture MNRs with multi-materials and comple x structures under multi-factor coupling, thus paving the way for the developmen t of high-performance MNRs.

According to news reporting out of Nanjing, People's Republic of Chi na, by NewsRx editors, research stated, "Petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) contaminati on in soils is considered one of the most serious problems currently, of which t he detection and identification is a fairly significant but challenging work. Co nventional methods to do such work usually need complex sample pretreatment, con sume much time and fail to do the in-situ detection." Funders for this research include National Natural Science Foundation of China ( NSFC), Qinglan Project of Jiangsu Province. Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Nanjing Univers ity of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), "This paper set out to create a novel systematic methodology to realize the goals accurately and efficiently. Based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and selfimproved machine learning methods, the innovative methodology only uses extremely simple devices to do the real-time in situ detection and identification work and even realize t he quantitative analysis of pollution level accurately. In the study, clean soil s mixed with petroleum were served as polluted samples, clean soils to be the bl ank group for comparison. Based on the elemental information from the spectra ob tained by LIBS, machine learning methods were improved and helped optimized the algorithm to identify the PHC polluted soil samples for the first time. Furtherm ore, a novel model was designed to perform the quantitative analysis of the conc entration of PHC pollution in soils, which can be applied to detect the degree o f PHC contamination in soils accurately. Finally, the harmful volatile component of the PHC polluted soils was also successfully and identified despite its extr emely minimal content in the air."

According to news reporting out of Harbin, People's Republic of China, by NewsRx editors, research stated, "Accurate online estimation of the p ayload parameters benefits robot control. In the existing approaches, however, o n the one hand, only the linear friction model was used for online payload ident ification, which reduced the online estimation accuracy." Financial supporters for this research include National Key R&D Pro gram of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Pre-research Task of State Key Laboratory of Robotics and Systems (HIT). Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Harbin Institut e of Technology, "On the other hand, the estimation models contain much noise be cause of using actual joint trajectory signals. In this article, a new estimatio n algorithm based on parameter difference for the payload dynamics is proposed. This method uses a nonlinear friction model for the online payload estimation in stead of the traditionally linear one. In addition, it considers the commanded j oint trajectory signals as the computation input to reduce the model noise. The main contribution of this article is to derive a symbolic relationship between t he parameter difference and the payload parameters and then apply it to the onli ne payload estimation. The robot base parameters without payload were identified offline and regarded as the prior information. The one with payload can be solv ed online by the recursive least squares method. The dynamics of the payload can be then solved online based on the numerical difference of the two parameter se ts. Finally, experimental comparisons and a manual guidance application experime nt are shown."

A fe ature extraction method of M-mode ultrasound was proposed. A strong linear relat ionship was found between the extracted features and the wrist joint angle. A li near regression model was adopted to compare the performance of two ultrasound m odes under two different training strategies. The model was trained with trainin g sets of different scales and complexity levels. For different training strateg ies, the M-mode ultrasound consistently kept the correlation coefficient (r) of over 0.9 and the normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) of below 0.15. Moreov er, the M-mode ultrasound significantly outperformed B-mode ultrasound in the tw o training strategies."

According to news reporting from Tamil Nadu, India, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "Robots find extensive applications in industry. In recent yea rs, the influence of robots has also increased rapidly in domestic scenarios." The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Mepco Schlenk En gineering College, "The Q-learning algorithm aims to maximise the reward for rea ching the goal. This paper proposes a modified version of the Q-learning algorit hm, known as Q-learning with scaled distance metric (Q -SD). This algorithm enh ances task learning and makes task completion more meaningful. A robotic manipul ator (agent) applies the Q -SD algorithm to the task of table cleaning. Using Q -SD, the agent acquires the sequence of steps necessary to accomplish the task while minimising the manipulator's movement distance. We partition the table in to grids of different dimensions. The first has a grid count of 3 x 3, and the s econd has a grid count of 4 x 4. Using the Q -SD algorithm, the maximum success obtained in these two environments was 86% and 59% respectively."
