Different principles regarding number of nouns and forms of verbs in Chinese and English languages have contributed to some mistakes that English language learners frequently make. The author has listed abundant examples from student work to ilustrate the issue of negative transfer of Chinese to English and has explored possible solutions to make grammar-teaching practices more effective.
