According to news originating from Medellin, Col ombia, by NewsRx editors, the research stated, “The process of concrete producti on involves mixing cement, water, and other materials.” Financial supporters for this research include Minciencias Colombia. The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Universidad Pont ificia Bolivariana: “The quantity of each of these materials results in a perfor mance that is particularly estimated in terms of compressive or flexural strengt h. It has been observed that the final performance of concrete has a high varian ce and that traditional formulation methods do not guarantee consistent results. Consequently, designs tend to be over-designed, generating higher costs than re quired, to ensure the performance committed to the client. This study proposes t he construction of predictive machine learning models to estimate compressive or flexural strength and concrete slump. The study was carried out following the T eam Data Science Process (TDSP) methodology, using a dataset generated by the Co lombian Ready Mix (RMX) company Cementos Argos S.A. over five years, containing the quantity of materials used for different concrete mixes, as well as performa nce metrics measured in the laboratory.”

According to news reporting from Seoul, South Korea, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “This study identifies a key cognitive mech anism through which information encountered by managers influences their pursuit of ambidexterity when implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in organisation s.” Financial supporters for this research include The National Research Foundation of Korea. Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from Sogang University: “Additionally, it investigates the roles of managers’ understanding of technolog ical environments and risk-taking strategies of their organisations in this rela tionship. We conducted three studies with managers at the above-middle level. Th e results indicate that managers with situationally induced promotion focus tend to have greater opportunity appraisal (Studies 1, 2, and 3) and pursuit of ambi dexterity (Studies 2 and 3) compared to those with situationally induced prevent ion focus. Opportunity appraisal mediates the relationship between situationally induced regulatory focus and ambidexterity pursuit (Studies 2 and 3).”

According to news reporting out of Tampa, Florida, by NewsRx editors, researc h stated, “Achalasia is an esophageal motility disorder. It occurs due to the de struction of nerves in the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which leads to the failure of the LES to relax.” Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the University of S outhern Florida, “Patients typically complain of dysphagia, chest pain, and regu rgitation. They often report drinking liquids with solids intake to help propel food boluses into the stomach. The diagnosis of achalasia is typically confirmed with an esophagogram and a motility study (esophageal manometry). An esophagogr am classically shows the bird beak sign with tapering in the distal esophagus. T he treatment for achalasia includes both surgical and non -surgical options. Sur gical treatment is associated with a lower rate of recurrences, high clinical su ccess rate, and durability of symptom relief. The current gold standard of surgi cal technique is myotomy, or the dividing of the muscle fibers of the distal eso phagus. Surgical myotomy can be accomplished via a laparoscopic or robotic techn ique; per -oral endoscopic myotomy is a new alternative intervention. Due to the theoretical risk of gastroesophageal reflux following a myotomy, an antireflux procedure is sometimes performed.”

According to news reporting from Munich, Germany, by News Rx journalists, research stated, “Functional connectivity has garnered interest as a potential biomarker of psychiatric disorders including borderline personali ty disorder (BPD). However, small sample sizes and lack of within-study replicat ions have led to divergent findings with no clear spatial foci.” The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Max-Planck-Insti tute for Psychiatry, “Evaluate discriminative performance and generalizability o f functional connectivity markers for BPD. Whole-brain fMRI resting state functi onal connectivity in matched subsamples of 116 BPD and 72 control individuals de fined by three grouping strategies. We predicted BPD status using classifiers wi th repeated cross-validation based on multiscale functional connectivity within and between regions of interest (ROIs) covering the whole brain-global ROI-based network, seed-based ROI-connectivity, functional consistency, and voxel-to-voxe l connectivity-and evaluated the generalizability of the classification in the l eft-out portion of non-matched data. Full-brain connectivity allowed classificat ion ( 70 %) of BPD patients vs. controls in matched inner cross-val idation. The classification remained significant when applied to unmatched out-o f-sample data ( 61-70 %). Highest seed-based accuracies were in a s imilar range to global accuracies ( 70-75 %), but spatially more sp ecific. The most discriminative seed regions included midline, temporal and soma tomotor regions. Univariate connectivity values were not predictive of BPD after multiple comparison corrections, but weak local effects coincided with the most discriminative seed- ROIs. Highest accuracies were achieved with a full clinical interview while self-report results remained at chance level. The accuracies va ry considerably between random sub-samples of the population, global signal and covariates limiting the practical applicability.”
