De-spite impairment in speech, aphasic speakers are still able to make themselves understood in social interaction (Armstrong,2005;Beeke,Maxim&Wilkinson,2007). A substantial body of literature demonstrates the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics(SFL) enables speech pathologists to assist aphasic individuals communicating effectively. This paper reviews the studies of Ferguson(1992) and Groenewold and Armstrong(2018)and evaluates language features of aphasia from a Systemic Functional perspective.
