This new method is economical, it provides the desired wire strength and results in increased production and lower labour costs. A complete plant consists of a hydraulic pay-off stand, a wire drawing block to give the wire a clean, bright finish and an on-line rolling ribbing cassette operated at high speed - for example, 4 to 12m/sec -which helps make the deformed Strips on the wire. The finished wire is wound on a heavy-duty spooling machine. When the required weight or length of ribbed wire is achieved, the spooling machine stops and the operator is able to feed strapping through the slots provided and create the desired tension with convectional equipment.

This innovation is toe result of sever years of research and development with doloma-based refractories. Doloma-based clean-flow nozzles form a nor-wetting static boundary surface between the refractory and steel. Toe non-wetting surface is formed by low melting point eutectics resulting from the interaction of CaO and Al_2O_3.
